The Abbots Bromley horn dance has been happening on the first Monday after 4th September for centuries. A dozen men of the village have the exhausting honor of carrying 1000 year old reindeer antlers around the village (especially the pubs!) and outlying farms and grand houses on a ten mile trek, performing an ancient dance at each place until their job is done. The antlers are then returned to the local church where they wait quietly until the next year. No one really knows the origins of it, nor indeed how old this traditional dance is - but there are written records of it from 1300s and the antlers have been carbon dated to be at least 1000 years old. #englishheritage #englishaccent #englishtraditions #villagelife🏡 #abbotsbromely Who stole the sunshine?
