About Maria

Spellbinding storytelling and inspirational, engaging arts events…

Maria is a professional storyteller, an artist and workshop facilitator who loves to connect with her audiences. Hailing from Manchester, Maria now lives in the Midlands in England and works with schools, individuals, festivals and heritage organsisations to bring the magic of storytelling and art to all.

Maria is a qualified and experienced teacher of both Science and Art, holds enhanced DBS and PLI. She is a registered ArtsMark Partner and works part time with The Mighty Creatives charity as a creative mentor where she specialises in developing creativity and confidence in her clients. She loves to reimagine traditional tales and to bring them to new audiences; tales with a twist are her favourites!

Recent work include commissions for The Royal Shakespeare Company and Festival at the Edge, performances for Toronto, Marrakech, Listowel and Galway international storytelling festivals. Closer to home Maria has worked with Tamworth Castle and Shenstone Community Library to create special story walks and events which celebrate the history and heritage of her own local community, including a candlelit storytelling performance in Tamworth Castle.

Recent highlights

Working with the Royal Shakespeare Company (Royal Shakespeare Company | RSC) to develop and perform two new family friendly stories based on the recollections of the Wardrobe department. Watch a five minute segment of the story here

Working on an Arts Council England funded commission with the children of Farlow School to create “Letters Through Time” for Festival at the Edge storytelling festival.

Telling stories at the Marrakech International Storytelling Festival with many other wonderful storytellers from around the world.

Telling stories by candlelight at Tamworth Castle, where gold from the Saxon Hoard sleeps.
